The ICH CAHPS survey is a patient experience of care survey administered to in-center hemodialysis patients twice a year through a vendor on behalf of the facility usually by phone or mail, or by both methods. The survey consists of questions which focus on a patient’s experience with an in-center hemodialysis center. Examples of topics included in the survey are communication, professionalism, information provided to patients, listening, explaining things in a way that is easy to understand. ICH CAHPS is a measure that is tied to a facility’s Quality Incentive Program performance. ICH CAHPS results should be used to improve the quality of care and be anchored to a facility’s patient centered culture.
